Feed Your Mind, Then Your Body: These Well-Located Newcomers Nourish Consumers Of Culture

Miami Beach
Abbey Dining Room, Abbey Hotel
300 21st St., (305) 531-0033

Though faithfully restored to full 1940s élan moderne, the Abbey Hotel reserved a window-lined section of its white-on-chrome lobby to create the house cafe. Chef Philippe Baguette of Café Tabac fame mans the stoves, turning out vivid dishes that sample the Mediterranean, from Greek horitiki salad to Moroccan merguez sausage to Spanish bass. With Miami’s emerging Cultural Park at its doorstep, the Abbey ensures an in-the-know crowd.

Philadelphia
Avenue B
260 S. Broad St., (215) 790-0705

The folks behind Philly’s superb Striped Bass restaurant strike again with Avenue B, located in the growing theater district. Its earthy Tuscan fare comes in preparations rustic (in the bar/cafe) and more refined (in the dining room), emphasizing homemade pasta, cured meat, and roast game. The handsome wood-trimmed, window-wrapped space showcases two seven-foot antique French clocks to remind theater-goers of curtain time.

Park City, Utah
Bistro Toujours, The Chateaux at Silver Lake
7815 Royal St. E., (435) 940-2200

The newest resort in Park City’s Deer Valley, The Chateaux at Silver Lake, recently unveiled its faithfully French Bistro Toujours. Dine on delights like potato-and-truffle-crusted char and wood-roasted beef tenderloin while gazing at the snow-capped Wasatch mountain range. Reserve a table now for the big summer jazz and art festivals, not to mention next January’s Sundance film fete.
