THE ART OF CRAFTS

You’ve got to hand it to the American Craft Museum. The New York institution has assembled an impressive exhibit of handmade objects by the finest craftspeople in the country. Objects for Use: Handmade by Design, on view through January 6, features 300 items, ranging from the quirky to the quotidian. There are baskets, quilts, and chairs, but also split-cane fishing rods, harps, and snowshoes. It’s a diverse show with one common thread — objects that carry out useful functions without sacrificing their graceful forms. (202) 956-3535, www.americancraftmuseum.org
