Here’s the windup … and the pitch: Check out "Baseball as America," an alluring display sliding into New York’s American Museum of Natural History through August 18. The new exhibit focuses on the history and romance of America’s national pastime and explores the impact of the game on popular culture by touching on such issues as immigration, integration, and technology. It includes troves of treasures from the Baseball Hall of Fame — the cornerstone of Ebbets Field, seats from the Polo Grounds — many of which have never traveled beyond Cooperstown before.
