Airport Hotels Take Off
by
Judith KirkwoodGuests can get noisy themselves, however, when they unwind at the
Boston Hilton's Kitty O'Shea's Irish Pub, which offers live Irish
entertainment every evening. "Many times people choose to stay at
the hotel for dining and entertainment in the evening, instead of
traveling into Boston," says Carey. The opportunity to stay put on
short business trips has prompted other airport hotels to pay
attention to dining and entertainment options as well. Travelers
will find more upscale dining available than the traditional
hurried continental breakfasts that are all some airport hotels
offer. The Olive Press at
Pittsburgh's Hyatt Regency, for example,
has received glowing re-views, as has the Globe@YVR in the Fairmont
Vancouver Airport Hotel.
Other amenities lure travelers to stay close to the airport. Last
November, the Absolute Spa Group opened its new spa in the Fairmont
Vancouver, featuring rejuvenation treatments such as warm stone
therapy and a soothing chocolate splash pedicure. But be sure
someone is watching the clock. It's hard to remember that time is
of the essence when you've been remineralized and wrapped in
30,000-year-old black Austrian Moor mud. Luckily you're only five
minutes away from airport check-in.
