White Mountains, Bretton Woods is a snowboarder’s dream come true, with long, gentle slopes and 101 trails for all levels. Recent expansions have added intermediate glades and tougher challenges. A Snow Play and Ski Readiness program offers all-day care and ski introduction for kids ages 5 and younger. The Hobbit Ski and Snowboard School has ski and snowboard lessons, including lunch, for kids ages 4 to 12. The whole family can participate in sleigh rides, tubing,
ice skating, and cross-country skiing.
Special for kids: Snowmonsters Kid Clubs, a website with snow games and riddles, keeps kids abreast of what’s happening on the mountain. Saturday parties for those ages 4 to 12 have shows, movies, snacks, and activities. The Babes in the Woods program provides all-day childcare with stories, games, crafts, and lunch.
Accommodations and info: The Mount Washington Hotel, the jewel in the crown, offers nonskiing activities such as horse-drawn sleigh rides, a skating rink, an indoor pool, a tubing area, and separate sports center. (800) 314-1752,
