6 FILLING THE GAP For the past four decades, the
Gap has been synonymous with blue jeans. Now the iconic American retailer is throwing its considerable denim expertise into the luxury-jeans business. Rivaling the likes of Seven, Paige Premium, and Prvcy denim, which can run $150 and up, the Gap’s new men’s and women’s
1969 Premium Denim collection, named for the brand’s debut year in business, was created by former
Giorgio Armani designer and current Gap executive vice president of design Patrick Robinson. Along with the help of Gap’s denim-fit engineer Rada Shadick, Robinson reworked the cuts and upgraded the fabrics -- all while keeping the collection under $60 a pair. Now that’s what we call a bargain. (800) 427-7895, www.gap.com
