Thierry’s is a Chelsea favorite, in part for its informal, slightly Bohemian, and very French feel. But mostly for good, honest brasserie-type fare (think monkfish in lobster sauce and beef bourguignon) that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

There’s been a pub on this site since 1430. The current incarnation, accessible down a darkened alley, is of warehouse-size proportions (it’s one of the biggest pubs in London). A word of caution: Careful about spouting off lawyer jokes here; there’s a strong legal clientele.
