Janet ThomasHold on to your hats,
Dallas, because the
NASHER SCULPTURE CENTER is going to blow you away. Opened in mid-October, the $70 million center sits on 2.4 acres (a full city block) in the already artful Dallas Arts District, adjacent to the famed
Dallas Museum of Art. Raymond and Patsy Nasher’s collection, one of the finest modern sculpture ensembles in the world, is spotlighted in a fashion-forward building designed by renowned architect
Renzo Piano. Think Picasso, Rodin, Degas, and Gauguin amid Italian travertine and cast aluminum, and topped with a suspended barrel-vaulted glass ceiling. A sculpture garden, museum store, and world-class cafe (the Mansion on Turtle Creek’s Dean Fearing is involved) push this place over the top.
