FUTURE FUEL
Actor Dennis Weaver, environmentalist founder of The Institute of Ecolonomics, puts the pedal to the metal to lead a convoy of hybrid and alternative-fueled vehicles on a cross-country journey from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., to promote clean-burning, renewable energies that could promote a decrease in U.S. dependence on fossil fuels. The education-oriented Drive to Survive rolls through 11 cities, May 1-14, and simulates in reverse a 1919 caravan, led by Army major Dwight Eisenhower, that sought to demonstrate that era’s new technology: the internal combustion engine.
