Dubliner | Colin Farrell | actor | Phone Booth | Tom Cruise
Colin Farrell's Dublin
by
Mark SealHe may be one of the hottest hunks in
Hollywood, but this Irish-born actor, who stars in the
thriller Phone Booth debuting later this month, is more at
home in a dark Irish pub than a posh L.A. eatery. Here's a
weekend with the devoted Dubliner at his favorite pubs and
points of interest.
"I've been accused of promoting the Irish cliché," says Colin
Farrell proudly. And, oh, what a hard-partying, hard-driving son of
Dublin he remains, despite his recent ascent up Hollywood's A-list.
Whether starring opposite
Tom Cruise in
Minority Report,
Bruce Willis in
Hart's War, or with a stellar cast in the
upcoming thriller
Phone Booth, he carries the spirit of his
homeland wherever he goes. Raised in the Castleknock neighborhood
of
Dublin, the 26-year-old actor abandoned dreams of becoming a
soccer star, like both his father and uncle before him, to join
Dublin's Gaiety School of Drama. Soon after,
Kevin Spacey spotted
him in a
London theatrical production, and as they say, a star was
born. So hoist your pint for a pub-crawling weekend in Colin
Farrell's beloved Dublin, where, he says, "Every day is kind of a
blast."
