CEO Gerard Arpey talks about a series of programs called the American Airlines Business Suite that make travel more enjoyable, productive and rewarding for small- and medium-size businesses.
In this month’s column, I would like to discuss a cause that is near and dear to our hearts at American Airlines: mobility. The ability to go wherever your mind and heart take you is what air travel is all about. Simply by doing our jobs, we give wings to the dreams and aspirations of millions of people around the world. That’s a blessing we’ll never take for granted. Unfortunately, many of us do take for granted how precious a gift it is to simply move from one place to another -- to be able to embrace a loved one, shake hands with a business partner, enjoy a much-needed vacation, or do any of a number of other things.
This month, I want to emphasize that while our industry and our company are anything but immune from the challenges our economy is facing (we have made, and will continue to make, difficult choices as we navigate through this economic storm), we continue to invest in the long-term future of our company.
This month brings one of my favorite holidays: the Fourth of July. It’s a celebration of American independence and freedom. Freedom is a precious gift, one I believe comes with the responsibility to help those less fortunate than ourselves. With that in mind, I would like to use this month’s column to shine a light on a program called Operation Iraqi Children (OIC), which is devoted to giving some deserving kids a chance at a better life.

We asked you to write Top 10 lists on how to spot a travel rookie, and you responded. (Boy, did you respond!) Here are some of our favorites partly because we know that almost all of us have made at least a few of these mistakes.
