Memorial Day weekend is
Pearl Harbor, an epic that chronicles the December 7, 1941, bombing and the effects of WWII on two young pilots (Ben Affleck and Josh Harnett) and a nurse (Kate Beckinsale). A huge supporting cast includes Cuba Gooding Jr., Jon Voight, and
Alec Baldwin, to name a few.
For the kids — and the kid in all of us — there is the animated
Shrek, the tale of an ogre (voiced by Mike Myers) and his quest to save the Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from a fire-breathing dragon in order to restore tranquility to his home, which is being overrun with annoying fairy-tale characters. Helping Shrek in his quest is a donkey (Eddie Murphy) who can’t seem to keep his mouth shut (Eddie Murphy? Who’d have guessed?). This one looks to be as much for Mom and Dad as it is for the kids.
