BIG EXHIBITS IN BIG DFW

The Lone Star State shines brightly this month with two must-see art offerings.

The Dallas Museum of Arthas just unveiled a collection of more than 90 photographs by renowned German artist Thomas Struth. On view through August 18, Struth’s subtly psychological works range from stark black-and-white shots of city streets to mural-sized landscapes of lush Asian jungles. Bartolomé Esteban Murillo was a golden boy from the golden age of Spanish painting, as well-known in his day as Michelangelo, Raphael, and Rembrandt. But he hasn’t gotten as much attention since. Now the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth has mounted the first U.S. retrospective of Murillo’s powerful work, on exhibit through June 16. (817) 332-8451, www.kimbellart.org
