Sweden September 12-14 as the headline player for the 12-woman
European squad, which will face off against a dozen American LPGA stars in the Solheim Cup competition.
Like the men’s
Ryder Cup, the Solheim is that rarity in professional
golf — a team event, with 26 match play contests spread over three days. Taking place this year at the Barsebäck Golf and Country Club in Malmo, Sweden, it features returning captain Patty Sheehan with the American team, while first-time captain Catrin Nilsmark, also a Swede, will urge on her European mates.
The event will be televised live in its entirety on The Golf Channel beginning at 1 a.m. on Sept. 12, and 2 a.m. Sept. 13 and 14. For those not on the night shift, a three-hour highlights show will air each evening at 8 p.m. Check
www.thegolfchannel.com for times of additional preview shows and highlights from past Cup matches.
