exhaustive martini list has both, plus nightly jazz wednesday to saturday.
lafitte’s blacksmith shop bar, (504) 522-9377. one of the most photographed spots in the quarter, lafitte’s is at its finest at night when the bar is lit only by candles. get there around midnight and you may catch mounted police and their horses taking a break.
the spotted cat, (504) 943-3887. located on up-and-coming frenchman street, where live music clubs abound; the tunes here are free and the drinks are strong.

lafayette cemetery no. 1
, (888) 721-7493. this cemetery, across the street from commander’s­ palace, isn’t the biggest in town, but it is easy to reach on the st. charles avenue streetcar, and you can explore it safely on your own. just don’t get scared.
