A TEXAS-SIZE REOPENING

The Amon Carter is back — bigger and better than before. After two years and $39 million in renovations, the newly expanded Fort Worth museum reopens October 21 with three times the space to rotate its 250,000 works of art. The offerings include paintings, sculptures, photo-graphs, and works on paper by leading 19th- and 20th-century American artists. Everything is housed in a graceful new building that preserves the trademark style of architect Philip Johnson’s original design. (817) 738-1933, www.cartermuseum.org
