BREAKFAST
"Jerry's in SoHo is a really upscale diner. They have these booths,
and it's just overrun with people from SoHo. It looks like you
should take a photo shoot in there because there are so many
beautiful people who have such great style down in that part of the
city. You can people watch there, but they've also got amazing
brunches on weekends. Every time I go, I have to forgo the brunch
because Jerry's has the best BLT in the city. If you're on the
Upper West Side, the best bagels in all of Manhattan are at H&H
Bagels. They're not too doughy, not too cakey. There's really
nothing like it."
SHOPPING
"One of my favorite outdoor activities is just walking and
window-shopping. I love to walk around NoLIta, which is east of
SoHo. … Over the last few years it's become a place where new,
exciting clothing designers have bought these tiny little shops.
You can walk up and down and see boutique after boutique of
one-of-a-kind pieces. … I go to all of the vintage stores. One is
called Resurrection, which is in NoLIta. Another is What Goes
Around Comes Around. For new clothing, I go to Intermix, a small
boutique with the newest trends and a handful of wonderful pieces
from many great designers. My two favorite jewelry stores, that I
never leave New York without looking at, are Fragments, which
represents probably 50 artists, and Me & Ro."
LUNCH
"Le Gamin in SoHo is on a tree-lined, cobblestone street. It's very
quaint and quiet. You feel like you're in
France. It's the tiniest,
tiniest little cafe you've ever seen in your life. They have tables
impossibly close to each other, and have the most amazingly rich
and creamy homemade European soups. They're really known for their
crepes. Go to
Grand Central Station, because it's incredible, and
eat at the Grand Central Oyster Bar. Another place I never miss is
John's Pizzeria, which has the best pizza in all of Manhattan. …
And if you want to experience two special grocery stores unlike
anything else in the world, go to Balducci's and Dean & DeLuca.
Both are great places to just pop in and make a picnic meal."
