Book it, Danno: Hilton Hawaiian Village

by Chris Wessling
Back in the day, Jack Lord was The Man. Playing detective Steve McGarrett in the original Hawaii Five-O, he patrolled the islands with a fierce dedication to justice while intimidating thugs with his Kennedy-esque mane.

We loved the show (including McGarrett's ability to never sweat in the tropical heat).

Fast-forward to now, and there's a new Hawaii Five-O on the block. In addition to some new names and faces, the current incarnation of the show features one of our all-time favorite stars: Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort.

Since the show's debut in 2010, Hilton Hawaiian Village has been featured in numerous episodes. Fans of the show might have seen the resort's Rainbow Tower, the Rainbow Tower rooftop, Tropics Bar & Grill, the Grand Waikikian timeshare tower, Hau Tree Bar or its famous Friday night fireworks over Waikiki Beach.

(All of which sound especially tantalizing on a frosty mid-January day.)

Now, you can get a taste of the show and the Village in two different ways:

1) Pack some sunscreen, get on an AA flight and head directly to the resort for some fun in the sun.

Through Aug. 12, Hilton Hawaiian Village is offering guests its Hawaii Five-0 Experience package, which includes:

> A five-night stay in a luxurious oceanview room
> Hawaii Five-0 Season 1 DVD set
> $50 dining credit for Tropics Bar & Grill
> Two signature Hawaii Five-0 cocktails
> 50 percent off a Spirit of Aloha catamaran sail

Take our advice and book it now, just by clicking here. You can thank us later.

2) Stay home, put on your best flowered shirt and make one of the two cocktails that Tropics Bar & Grill bartender Rocky Nago created in honor of the new Five-O.

One is the “Hawaii Five-0,” and the other is the “Book 'Em Danno.” You may not be a professional bartender, but you can learn how to make both cocktails by watching the video below.

Aloha!
