Heidi Klum | Germany | Cologne | Frankfurt | Munich

Heidi Klum's Germany

by Mark Seal

Enjoy a whirlwind weekend in five charming cities with the ravishing Deutschland-born model, actress, and entrepreneur.
What better way to spend the holidays than with supermodel Heidi Klum in her mother country of Germany. Born and raised in Bergisch Gladbach, a storybook town outside of Cologne, Klum skyrocketed to international fame after appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated's 1998 swimsuit issue. In addition to appearing on hundreds of other magazine covers since then, she's acted on TV and in movies, and now has her own fragrance, her own postage stamp (the nation of Granada), and a brand new multiyear deal in which she will design shoes for the noted German company Birkenstock. Now based in New York, Klum returns regularly to her homeland for business and to visit family. She suggests the following itinerary: "First, fly to Frankfurt for a day. Then take the train two hours to Cologne. After experiencing Cologne, take the train to Hamburg. Then take the train to Berlin, then to Munich. From Munich, you go back to Frankfurt and fly home. You're doing a circle of Germany." How do you manage all that in a single weekend? Make it a long one and be sure to pack a sense of adventure. Here's Heidi Klum's whirlwind tour of Germany.
