Holly Golightly | Johanna Redner | Harry’s Bar | Paris
Bar None

John MarianiIt’s been a while since the
sidecar cocktail (which originated at Harry’s Bar in
Paris in the 1930s and is named after the sidecar on a motorcycle) was a popular drink choice, but Johanna Redner, bartender at the
Boston bistro Aquitaine (569 Tremont St., 877-616-2563) is determined to bring it back with a twist. “My all-time favorite movie is
Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” she says, “and in it, the character Holly Golightly drinks sidecars. I have been experimenting to find the perfect sidecar. Everywhere I go I have to taste the sidecar from the house, because I like the sweet-and-sour taste so much, and maybe because it makes me feel a little like Holly Golightly. Romance is sweet-and-sour and has to make you feel good, and that’s the way Holly Golightly likes her sidecars.” So will you.
