THE MAGIC TOUCH
Forget that Earvin “Magic” Johnson is one of the greatest basketball players of all time — eight championship rings as an owner and player, recent induction into the NBA Hall of Fame, and the unstoppable U.S. Olympic Dream Team that brought home gold in 1992. The former L.A. Laker is also a great businessman. We caught up with the 43-year-old father of three at the grand opening of a 24 Hour Fitness Magic Johnson Sports Club in Dallas.

AW: You’re now partnered with 24 Hour Fitness. What’s your own workout routine like these days?
MJ: I get up around 6:30 and run a couple of miles, then go into the gym and lift weights.

AW: What’s the best thing you’ve accomplished so far?
MJ: Whooo. The eight championship rings have been great. But I also think that building my company to where it is now has been incredible. I think people knew I could play basketball, but they didn’t know that this could happen.

AW: Anything you’re looking forward to this season?
MJ: Just the Lakers winning again, but we’ve got stiff competition with Sacramento and Dallas.
