LIMONCELLO DROP

Anyone who has driven down Italy’s Amalfi coast will remember the fragrance of lemons, the basis for the local liqueur known as limoncello. Nicki Riveccio, bar manager at the Italian Piatti restaurant in Sacramento, California (916-649-8885), has taken the idea of limoncello to a logical step in his bright, summery “limoncello drop.”

limoncello drop
1 oz. finlandia vodka
3 oz. limoncello liquer
juice of half a lemon
1 t. sugar

pour all ingredients into a schaker with ice cubes, shake till very cold, and serve in a chilled martini glass with a sprig of mint as a garnish.
