Born and bred in L.A., this actress/author takes time from promoting her latest production - a new children's book - to show you sights of her Hollywood hometown. the
was born and raised in the City of Angels and am proud of it," says Jamie Lee Curtis, who, as the daughter of Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis, lives up to her Hollywood-royalty bloodline. The 43-year-old award-winning actress has appeared in both TV (including her own sitcom, Anything but Love, in the early '90s) and film (from Trading Places to True Lies) for more than 25 years. Several years ago, Curtis, the mother of two and wife of actor/writer/director Christopher Guest, launched a second career as an author of children's books. Her newest, I'm Gonna Like Me: Letting Off a Little Self-Esteem, hits bookstores this month. But before she takes off on the book-tour circuit, Curtis stars as your guide to her Hollywood hometown, where she shines as brightly as her star on the Walk of Fame.
FRIDAY
LODGING
"I'm always drawn to the ocean and the clean air and fresh element the ocean brings. So I'm drawn to Shutters, which is right on the beach in Santa Monica. Very simple and yet beautifully elegant. If you need access to the whole city of Los Angeles, The Beverly Hills Hotel would be your best bet. I love the old-time glamour. They've completely refurbished it, and it's a beautiful place. I have friends who love the Mondrian, designed by Philippe Starck."

DINNER
"The Getty Center is my favorite outing. Make a reservation for dinner up at the Getty restaurant. Have dinner and see the art at night. The setting is so appropriate for L.A. It's perched up on a hill, and you can see it from everywhere in the city. It's a magnificent addition to our city. It's open late on Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, I would go to dinner at Il Ristorante di Giorgio Baldi, in Santa Monica near the ocean. It feels like you're eating at Giorgio's home. Giorgio's daughter runs the front of the restaurant. His son works as both a manager and a waiter. Giorgio cooks. I would do clam soup, grilled langoustines, or this fish called spigola. The food is truly unparalleled in the city."
