Japan National Tourist Organization

Know It

by Elaine Glusac

BUSINESS EXCHANGE
When you pack for Japan, load up
on business cards. According to the Japan National Tourist Organization, residents exchange meishi, or name cards, in both business and personal meetings. When swapping cards,
extend yours with two hands, respectfully deliver it under the card you are receiving, read the person’s name aloud, and keep the card on the table throughout your face-to-face.
