'Survivor' Contestant: American Way Helped Me Prepare

by Chris Wessling
You know what we love? Getting a shout-out (sort of) during a nationally televised show.

On last night's finale of "Survivor: Nicaragua," contestant Jane Bright talked about all the hard work and preparation she did before filming actually began. Host Jeff Probst praised her for being able to start a fire "without the help of anything."

As Bright explained, it was all because of American Way: "I read an article on the airplane you wrote, and it said why would anybody do 'Survivor' without knowing how to build a fire?" That story prompted her to do a little research and learn to become a master firestarter.

While Bright didn't get specific, she was referring to a story that appeared in the March 15, 2010, issue of American Way, and was actually written by Associate Editor Travis Kinsey (not Probst).
