"I love the
Museum of Science. It's connected to the planetarium,
which has educational shows every day and great
laser shows on
Friday nights. The
Miami Seaquarium in Virginia Key does the shows
with the whales, the dolphins, and the seals. Vizcaya Museum and
Gardens is gorgeous, a favorite place for weddings. It used to be a
mansion, the winter home for the International Harvester company
founder. Now it's a National Historic Landmark. Its gardens are
filled with flowers, and the house is filled with great art.
Fairchild Tropical Garden is almost 100 acres of tropical plants
and trees and birds, alligators, lizards, and more. My favorite
museums are the Bass Museum of Art,
Miami Art Museum, and Museum of
Contemporary Art in North Miami."
SWIMMING
"The
Venetian Pool in Coral Gables is the most beautiful swimming
pool in the world. It was made from coral rock in 1923, and has
coral caves and waterfalls. It's in the National Register of
Historic Places. They refill it every day with fresh water. It's a
great place to swim."
LUNCH
"Nemo on
South Beach has the best lunch menu in town. It's new
American. The two best dishes are the wok-charred salmon and the
crispy prawn salad. Carpaccio at
Bal Harbour Shops, one of Miami's
most expensive shopping malls, is known for its salads."
PARKS"
My favorite park is Kennedy Park, which backs onto a beautiful bay
in Coconut Grove. They've gated a huge area for dogs to play in so
the dogs don't have access to the road. They also put water out for
the dogs. Everybody takes their dogs there. I take my golden
retriever,
Grammy, which my record company gave me as a gift when I
won the Grammy in 1996. Grammy loves Kennedy Park. There are
workout stations along the pathway, so you can walk your dog and
work out at the same time. There's also Tropical Park, which is a
huge park on Bird Road with
softball fields,
tennis courts, soccer
fields, everything."
