KYLIE MINOGUE
Aphrodite (Capitol, $19)
IRREPRESSIBLE Aussie Kylie Minogue is back with her 11th album, and there’s not a ballad in sight in this pop-driven masterpiece. The light-as-helium first single, “All the Lovers,” is so fizzy and fun that it makes us want to dance — and we do
not dance. Not in front of people, anyway.
MAPS & ATLASES
Perch Patchwork (Barsuk Records, $14)
WITH THE SUCCESS of their previous EPs bolstering their profile, it’s hard to believe that this is the full-length debut from
Chicago math-rock outfit Maps & Atlases. But debuting they are — and disappointing they aren’t, thanks to a bevy of cleverly written tunes with myriad musical layers to easily lose yourself in.
