A stairway to Heavenly would be nice. But a gondola is much faster. Heavenly Ski Resort, the renowned Lake Tahoe winter playland, just christened a high-speed gondola that takes skiers and snowboarders — quickly — from downtown Lake Tahoe to a starting point near the summit. The eight-passenger lift zips two miles up the mountain in just over 11 minutes and gives downhillers access to thousands of acres of prime ski terrain. Better hurry.
