"Hoover Dam is a must, one of the most spectacular sights, and the
state's number-one tourist attraction. I saw a documentary on the
making of it recently. I couldn't believe the proportion of what
they did there. It's like they changed the course of nature."
Dinner
"The Top of the World atop the Stratosphere Tower is a nice
restaurant with good
food, but you go for the view. Ristorante
Italiano at the Riviera has an authentic Italian feel. Wolfgang
Puck has several restaurants in
Las Vegas, including Postrio, at
the Venetian. Get the 24-ounce grilled bone-in rib-eye steak with
Yukon gold potato gratin. Another place for a view with your dinner
is the Eiffel Tower restaurant at the
Paris hotel. It features
updated classic French food. For steak, go to Kristofer's Steak
House at the Riviera."
SUNDAY
Worship
"When I'm out of town, I always have to make sure that I can get to
a Catholic mass. Just behind the Desert Inn off the Strip is one of
my favorite buildings in all of Las Vegas,
the Guardian Angel
Cathedral. They're famous for accepting chips in the collection
basket. They also have spectacular vocalists, Vegas players who
play the hotels. The Guardian Angel Cathedral is also famous for
its stained-glass windows. I'll either go there or to Christ the
King Catholic Community over on Tropicana. We would go to beautiful
Sunday evening masses at Christ the King, which is a very socially
conscious parish."
