LEE JANZEN joined the professional
golf circuit in 1986 and jumped headfirst into the
PGA Tour three years later. Since then, he has captured eight career Tour titles. As he gets set for another busy year on the Tour, Janzen takes time to talk with us about the game that has been a major part of his life.
AW: Do you have a favorite course?
LJ: I have a number of them: Pebble Beach [California], Pinehurst No. 2 [North Carolina], Shinnecock [Long Island], Secession [South Carolina].
AW: How old were you when you first picked up a club?
LJ: I think I was about 10.
AW: Any advice for amateur players?
LJ: Yeah, go practice your short game.
AW: If you weren’t playing golf, what would you be doing?
LJ: Is this a fantasy question?
AW: Sure.
LJ: I’d be playing
baseball — wishing I were playing golf.
AW: Who’s the person who most defines the game for you?
LJ: That’s a good question. I’d have to say Tom Watson.
