This otherwise benign-looking lake in northwest Idaho is home to an impressive number of wrecks. At least 200 have been marked and mapped, everything from a canoe to a 165-foot steamer, and they’ve scattered their share of jetsam, be it antique bottles or rare ship’s lanterns. That’s not all that rests on the bottom. “Scrounge diving” under the local marina docks is a popular pastime. “We’ve found just about everything: sunglasses, watches, wallets, cell phones galore,” says local diver Ed Hastie. “Found a gold-cased watch once. Watch was no good, but the gold was nice.”
