San Fran Film Festival Proves Silence is Golden

What a way to spend a summer day — or two. The seventh annual San Francisco Silent Film Festival, complete with lively musical accompaniment, educates and entertains July 13-14 at the recently renovated Castro Theatre. This year’s festivities will celebrate the centennial of Hollywood director William Wyler’s birth, with actor Terence Stamp personally introducing Wyler’s silent drama Hell’s Heroes. Other flicks to be screened include Captain January, Male and Female, Shiraz, Girl Shy, and The Blot. (415) 777-4908, www.silentfilm.org
