NIGHTLIFE
"Vesuvius is a nightclub with a real nice decor and mixed crowd.
It's open on Friday and Saturday nights. On Fridays, there's a
deejay playing hip-hop, R&B, trance, and house music; on
Saturdays, there's live R&B music, some-times a major name.
They also have great
food. I also like to go to The Gate. It has a
nice restaurant and a cool dance club. They have disc jockeys who
play everything - dance, hip-hop, disco, house, techno. The music
starts around 9 on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Lots of plush couches, fireplaces, rugs. When I go out, I just like
to have a good time. I don't really stay long. I go in, check it
out, see who's there, and then leave."
SATURDAY
HOW TO LOOK LIKE A LOCAL
"Just wear slacks and a nice shirt. You don't need to wear a suit.
The only time I wear suits is when I go to a special event, like a
charity event. Otherwise, you can go anywhere in L.A. in slacks and
a nice shirt and you'll fit right in."
BREAKFAST
"Du-par's has been around for a long time. They're known for their
French toast. But the Shaq way to order it is double dipped. It
adds more egg and makes it fluffier. I always get it with a side of
bacon and three glasses of milk."
BEACH
"You can go out to
Manhattan Beach, which is in between Redondo
Beach and
Marina del Rey. I used to have a house in Manhattan
Beach. There's a pier at the end of the beach where you can go
fishing. I could walk and ride my bike right in front of my house.
Manhattan Beach is pretty much like any other
California beach,
with surfers, shops, beach houses, and restaurants. What makes it
different for me is that it was a free throw away from my house,
and I used to love to walk the beach there."
