In Miami, at the SKYBAR (305-695-3100, www.shoreclub.com) in The Shore Club, from hotelier Ian Schrager, plush Moroccan beds and glowing lanterns are arranged under the open South Beach sky. In Dallas, the patio at M LOUNGE, (214-748-4222), in the trendy Deep Ellum district, features soothing waterfalls. And in Manhattan, the classy FIVES (212-903-3918, www.peninsula.com) in The Peninsula New York peers over Fifth Avenue and pours 55 wines by the glass.

I’m headed to the more sedate confines of the Sushi Blues Cafe to hear Bluesman Dave & Bonga La Roc Jr. while noshing on some Japanese drinking snacks called otsumami. Frankly, I had not anticipated such a wild scene here.
