Devin Gordon"I don't drink and I don't go out past nine o'clock much anymore -
but I do remember one time I was in town and we went to the Pearl
Street Mall at night, and I said, 'Oh my gosh, there are so many
people out here!' It was just buzzing. There are bars all up and
down it and you can always hear live music pouring out of the
clubs."
So you love healthy food, you exercise
constantly, and you don't drink. Do you have any
vices?
"I love to shop. The great thing about shopping in Boulder is that
the town is pretty compact, so you don't have to go far for
anything. Pearl Street has clothing chains like the Gap and all
that, but there are also designer stores. My favorite store is Max.
It's right up the street from Pulse, that gym I love, so what you
do is, you go work out, and then as a reward, you go buy yourself a
little something at Max."
How long does it take to get out of town for
the day and be somewhere wonderful outdoors?
"Hiking in the mountains is, like, two feet away. The really cool
thing is, when you look up from almost anywhere in town, you can
see these sheer rock faces - those are the Flatirons - and you can
actually see people, rock climbers, holding onto 'em like spiders.
It's amazing. You can actually see them from town.
Another fun day trip is going up to Nederland. It's half an hour up
the mountain from Boulder. It's this funky old town with antiques
stores and cool local people. It's nestled right between the city
and a ski resort. The last time I went hiking outside of Boulder
was up in Nederland. You can hike for hours and the views are so
beautiful you don't even feel it. We had our dogs with us, and we
were standing at the top of this peak, just looking down on this
field of lavender and blue and yellow flowers - amazing! And then
mountain range after mountain range beyond that! And the blue sky!
To me, it's God's country."
