new orleans attractions that put us at ease
lodging
dauphine orleans, inexpensive to moderate, (800) 521-7111. it's
not fancy (except for the patio rooms), but it's central,
efficient, and quiet enough that you'll be able to sleep in. you'll
need that.
hotel maison de ville and the audubon
cottages, very expensive, (504) 528-5858. there's no more
relaxing spot than this hidden gem just off bourbon street.
hotel provincial, moderate, (504) 581-4995. located in the
heart of the french quarter, this antiques-filled hotel is still
central to the action.
dining
bayona, expensive, (504) 525-4455. susan spicer is one of the
most respected chefs in a city filled with respected chefs. she's
also in the kitchen nearly every night. one note: try the
sweetbreads. trust us.
coop's place, inexpensive, (504) 525-9053. the bar is worn
like an old pair of jeans, and the jambalaya is hands down the best
in
new orleans.
