Putting The New In New Orleans
by
Larry Olmsted
Despite all the attractions old and new in
New Orleans, one place
the city has historically come up short is on the
golf course. But
even that is no longer true. This past spring, the TPC of Louisiana
opened just outside the city. Owned by the
PGA Tour, the facility
is the latest in the Tournament Player's Club Network (also known
as stadium courses), and is purely public, which instantly made it
the premier venue for visitors. It will host the city's PGA Tour
event, previously held at a private club, and will even feature
local Cajun and Creole cuisine in the clubhouse.
For golfers, gourmands, art and history buffs, shoppers,
conventioneers, or just plain tourists, it's never been easier to
have a big time in The Big Easy.
