Bonus Track Download this for your morning hotel workout: LCD Soundsystem’s 45:33: Nike + Original Run
In October 2006, Nike contracted James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem for an intriguing project: He was to put together a record tailored for runners to use while jogging, a mix that would specifically clock in at 45 minutes and 33 seconds. The result, sold exclusively on iTunes as part of the Nike Sport Music area of the online music store, is a beat-heavy electronic soundscape that does exactly what it was intended to do: to make listeners want to move around. So be sure to be dressed appropriately when it comes up on your iPod. Running in wing tips is not fun. You’ll just have to trust me — and my feet — on that one. Also not fun: running in a suit and tie. Again, you’ll have to trust me (and just about every character Tom Cruise has ever played) on this. — Z.C.
