The PGA Tour’s 42nd annual HP
Byron Nelson Championship has moved this year from April to
Memorial Day weekend, and it’s sure to be a memorable event. It features a world-class field competing for $6.5 million in prize money on a course that has been upgraded via a $10 million redesign.
Among the improvements to the fresh-faced layout is a spectacular viewing area behind the second hole, which allows fans to track the action on holes one, two, three, 17, and 18.
And speaking of action, defending champion Adam Scott, the 28-year-old Australian superstar, headlines a field of young guns who’ll be shooting for the 2009 title. Here are just a few to watch:
Nick Watney
The big-hitting 28-year-old has made a splash on Tour this year with a win at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines and a second-place finish behind
Phil Mickelson at the CA Championship at Doral.
Brandt Snedeker
Snedeker followed up his 2007
PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award by making a run at a green jacket at last year’s Masters. You’ll recognize this 28-year-old by his fl owing hair, trademark visor, and lickety-split playing pace.
