THAT'S A DIFFERENT STORY
"One of my favorite ways to spend time during a layover is to buy a local paper. It doesn't matter if I'm reading a third or fourth paper that day. It's just incredibly interesting to learn about each town and how they look at things, as well as how the same story can be explained different ways by different writers. It helps you learn that what can be important to one group might not be important to another."

PLAN 23C
"When you are traveling coach, look around the cabin and make note of your favorite seats on the American Airlines World Timetable aircraft seat maps, so when you don't get the upgrade, you know where to sit."

NO LAG TIME
"Regardless of how long a flight is or the number of time zones crossed, you are always susceptible to jet lag. My best travel tip is a little-known naturopathic remedy - ginger! That's right, just taking two ginger capsules when your plane is taxiing down the runway, and another two within an hour after landing, and you will feel completely rested and ready for your next business obligation."

LAPTOP OR LUXURY?
"Several years ago, I joined the traveling laptop club. As soon as the flight attendant signaled permission, I, along with my fellow travelers, dutifully opened my laptop and began working. A few months later my wife observed that I was dreading out-of-town trips and returned home cranky. She was right. I realized I had turned my flight time into office time. I still have a state-of-the-art laptop, but it remains in the overhead compartment. Flying is again a pleasure with my rediscovered - and now protected - down time."

MATCH GAME, AIRPORT EDITION
"To kill time during a layover or a long wait at baggage claim, play the game of matching people to their luggage. It sounds silly, but it is actually quite amusing.
