Pros: Built-in TV tuner with Picture-in-Picture to watch news, etc., while computing.
Cons: Can’t change size of Picture-in-Picture window.
Bottom line: Already one of the lowest-priced multifunction LCD monitors on the market, a recent price drop by the manufacturer makes it an even better buy.

Samsung SyncMaster 171V, $649
Pros: Recommended for high-quality business display use, also has system for extra low power consumption.
Cons: Simply an analog screen with no extras, such as TV tuners, speakers, etc.
Bottom line: LCD leader Samsung offers a dizzying array of LCD monitors with seemingly few differences, except price. Great monitors, but shop wisely.

ViewSonic VE700, $569
Pros: Better than standard image quality. Includes an auto-tuning feature.
Cons: One input source forces a choice: PC or Mac? No swivel.
Bottom line: If you only need a computer monitor, ViewSonic’s quality and reasonable price might be for you.
