DINNER
"The Palace Kitchen is dimly lit, with the best cocktails at the
big bar at the entrance and modern American cuisine once you get
inside. Great ravioli. Another good one is Wild Ginger, which had
the first satay bar in the country. It's
Pacific Rim food and
features the artwork of
Seattle artists."
NIGHTLIFE
"Saturday nights are usually like New Year's Eve: All the amateurs
are out. Saturday night can be fun, but it can also be crowded. So
given the choice on Saturday night, I would usually do something in
a more controlled environment, like a theater. The Empty Space
Theater does some really good stuff. That's where I'd be on
Saturday night."
SUNDAY
BREAKFAST
"The Rose Club Café in south Seattle, near
Lake Washington, is
small, but they have the best organic breakfast in town. It's in an
old apartment building and it only has 10 tables. It's worth
waiting for a seat."
EXCURSION
"Take a drive to Snoqualmie Falls, which is 100 feet taller than
Niagara Falls. It's beautiful out there. Did you ever see the
television series Twin Peaks? A lot of those locations were shot at
Snoqualmie Falls and the towns of Snoqualmie, North Bend, and Fall
City on Highways 202 and 203. On what's known as the Twin Peaks
Drive from Seattle to Snoqualmie Falls, you'll pass Twedes in North
Bend, which was called the Double R Diner in Twin Peaks and where
Agent Cooper said, 'This must be where pies go when they die.'
Along the way, you could stop at the Salish Lodge Dining Room,
which has a great view of the falls."
