Silverado | When General Motors | outer sheet metal

Wheels

by Ed Wallace

CHEVY ROCKS ON

When General Motors introduced the last generation of its popular pickup trucks in 1999, it took more than a few hits for too-conservative styling from the automotive press. No matter, GM’s truck sales rose due to the vehicle’s exceptional handling. Now just three years later, GM has responded to critics by giving us the most aggressive-looking Silverado in Chevrolet’s history. The 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB's interior is also new, but not near the quantum leap of the outer sheet metal. Engines start with a 200-horsepower V-6 and move all the way up to a 300-horsepower behemoth. Best of all, this new Silverado is now so refined, it’s hard to tell you’re driving a truck. Prices start at $18,191. For more information, log on to www.insideautomotive.com.
