In a city noted for its modern architecture, the new Sofitel Chicago Water Tower makes a dramatic addition to the skyline. The glass-and-aluminum-clad prism-shaped building tapers as it rises 32 stories — lofting a swanky presidential suite at the pinnacle. Inside, custom sofas furnish the contemporary two-story lobby. A floor-to-ceiling concave window sweeps through the fittingly named Café des Architectes. And a small, firelit library in a corner of Le Bar proffers books on Chicago design.
