NORTHSTAR-AT-TAHOE, LAKE TAHOE, CALIFORNIA
Northstar has Minors' Camp, which combines ski instruction and
child care for ages 2 (potty trained only, please) to 6; Ski Cub,
which kicks in for 3- to 6-year-olds; and Starkids is
skiing and
snowboarding for 6- to 12-year-olds. Yes, Mom and Dad get some free
time to ski on their own, but for parents who want to watch their
little ones there is "Mommy, Daddy & Me," a free program that
offers tips for teaching kids to ski. A new family terrain park,
where adults can try some man-made terrain features, brings
everyone together for snow fun. A "parent predicament" lift ticket
saves money by allowing a couple with a young child to buy and
share one lift ticket and take turns babysitting.
Special for Kids: Paw Parks, six terrain parks built just
for kids, feature mini jumps, rolling bumps, bank turns, and areas
for snow play, all of which are ski-patrol monitored and zoned
"slow skiing" for safety. Rent snow toys such as bikes and snow
scooters, or tube down the mountain on a tubing hill.
Accommodations and info: Hotel rooms, condominiums, and
house rentals are available. (800) 466-6784,
