SUMMER IN SWITZERLAND

Here’s something the Swiss don’t want you to miss. They’re called arteplages (art beaches), elaborate artistic installations that are a main attraction of Switzerland’s Expo.02. American Airlines’ new codeshare agreement with SWISS, the national airline of Switzerland, makes it a breeze to visit all five arteplages installed at waterfront sites along the Three Lake region. Each is architecturally unique, and each will serve as a stage for live music, dance, and theater. Catamarans ferry visitors to beaches in Biel, Murten, Neuchatel, Jura, and Yverdon-les-Bains. Unfortunately, many of us do take for granted how precious a gift it is to simply move from one place to another -- to be able to embrace a loved one, shake hands with a business partner, enjoy a much-needed vacation, or do any of a number of other things.
