Try It

THE RIDE STUFF
What’s big, scary, and filled with ups and downs? No, it’s not the NASDAQ. It’s a roller coaster. And not just any roller coaster — we dare you to try one of these top new amusement park rides.

Titan at Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington, Texas, (817) 530-6000. Towering 255 feet, this giant sends riders through more than a mile of loops, twists, and camelback hills — not to mention a 120-foot tunnel of total darkness.

Hypersonic XLC at Paramount’s Kings Dominion, Doswell, Virginia, (804) 876-5000. Propelled by compressed air, cars on this coaster accelerate faster than any ride in the U.S. — zero to 80 miles per hour in 1.8 seconds.

Déjà Vu at Six Flags Over California, Magic Mountain, Valencia, California, (661) 255-4100. Strapped into ski-lift-style chairs suspended from the track, riders plummet 196 feet and negotiate boomerang turns at 65 miles per hour. One time forward, one time back. Déjà vu. Get it?
