The Carlyle Restaurant
The Carlyle
35 East 76th St.
(212) 570-7192
Located on the swanky Upper East Side of Manhattan, the Carlyle has
always been a favorite
Thanksgiving respite for New Yorkers as well
as for out-of-towners who happen to be in the Big Apple at turkey
time. The flower-filled Carlyle Restaurant is resplendent on an
autumn day in New York, and it's the perfect place to sate your
appetite after catching a peek at Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Each year, executive chef Jimmy Sakatos puts aside the Carlyle's
typical haute cuisine and delivers a traditional Thanksgiving
four-course feast that includes butternut-squash bisque with
porcini cream and Hudson Valley foie gras,
Vermont turkey with
chestnut stuffing, maple-glazed sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie
(other choices are available for each course). There are three
seatings: noon, three p.m., and seven p.m. Price: $105 per person.
In the less formal Café Carlyle, a buffet is available with a wide
variety of offerings such as chilled asparagus and vinaigrette,
lobster Parisienne, East and
West Coast oysters, Vermont turkey
with chestnut stuffing and cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, and
pumpkin pie. There are two seatings: noon and 2:30 p.m. Price: $85
per person.
