FROM ONE OLYMPIAN TO ANOTHER
"Advice to first-time Olympians? Live every moment of the Olympics.
It's a big, crazy, magical celebration and you won't get it back."
- Cathy Turner, two-time gold medalist, short track speed
skating
PULLING G's
Women's bobsled is making its Olympic debut. TV will attempt to
bring you the adrenal thrills. But when you're racing down a frozen
track at 80 miles per hour and pulling four G's, nothing beats the
hot seat.
"The most awesome ride you could ever imagine," says one
competitor.
"Picture re-entering the Earth's atmosphere from space. Just
electric!"
THE RIGHT STUFF
"I don't think it's hard for people to relate to Olympic dreams. As
kids, everyone thinks of one little moment where they can be on
top, whether it's hitting a home run in the bottom of the ninth or
stepping up onto the gold medal po-dium. When I was 12, winning a
gold medal was just this big, huge goal that was so far away.
Finally I'm going to be able to compete on this great world stage
with the top athletes of my time for that ultimate goal. I want to
show the world how great my country is, and be able to stand behind
that." - Rusty Smith, short track speed skater
