Tomorrow’s technology | Museum of Fine Arts | Houston | high-tech materials

See It

by Elaine Glusac

Tomorrow’s technology enters today’s living rooms in Design of Our Time, at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, through May 13. In fluid shapes and eye-catching colors, the show’s international designers turn high-tech materials to domestic ends à la Philippe Starck’s aluminum stool, Ron Arad’s Narrow Paparadelle Chair (left), and the Vermelha Chair, made of enameled steel and cotton cord (right). “Our Time” ushers in a trio of consecutive MFAH exhibits, each exploring the evolution of contemporary design in various eras.
